Outreach and Service

Christian Social Ministries is St. Peter’s way of serving our parish, the New Smyrna Beach community, and our neighbors throughout the world. Service has been an integral part of the church’s mission since it’s inception in 1986. Through the time, talent and treasure of this parish and its members we participate in a variety of programs and projects. While the focus is on serving, we hear frequently from members that they receive unexpected gifts from a volunteer experience with one of our ministries.

"Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you, with gladness and singleness of heart." (Book of Common Prayer, p. 365)

Jim Spencer, rector of St. Peter the Fisherman, often speaks about relationships in his sermons. Many scholars interpret the biblical definition of the term ‘righteousness’ to mean building ‘right relationships.’ Rev. Spencer encourages us to strengthen those relationships with God through Jesus Christ, with our neighbors and with total strangers. We invite you to find a ministry in which you can serve and be about building right relationships. Newcomers and founding members alike tell us that serving as a volunteer in one of these projects or programs is a sure way of finding a small community within the parish. It is through sharing these experiences that the heart is touched.
