As our understanding of world needs grows, St. Peter’s has expanded its national and international support to communities in need. On a regular basis to orphanages in Honduras and also when a need as great as with Hurricane Rita on the gulf coast arises, the community of St. Peter’s is generous, both financially and in time and talent.
Father Jim and Parishioners have traveled to churches in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Cuba and Haiti to share the message of Jesus Christ. Plans are now in the works to revisit some of these destinations with additional countries in mind. St. Peter’s has also risen to the call when tragedy came closer to our own doors with aid for hurricane relief. In response to the need caused by Katrina, St. Peter’s collected food and clothes thru the Sunday School and sent a car and gifts totaling in excess of $35,000 dollars. St. Peter’s also collected gifts and funds to contribute to the Episcopal Church effort of relief to those victims of Wilma, Francis and other hurricanes on our Florida doorstep.
